Is that a nose fairing?

383 02-20-10 02:37 PM

Intense, but you'd probably get better leverage on the handlebars in a climb

What makes you think they're climbing?

coasting 02-20-10 02:42 PM

what is he holding onto?

Probably just a little rise to power over at high speed after coming down that hill in the background.

Looks like he's holding onto the fork crown to me.

And, yeah, what is on that dude's nose? Mini dustmask?

Air foil beak

Kinda reminds me of that dope dealer in Salton Sea.

Do you think that'll meet the UCI's 3:1 rule?

I guess you could argue it's structural.... :)

The perspective makes it look like they're coming into a climb. Maybe its just a photographer low to the ground and the light angles

He should work for Specialized.

Just to make sure everyone noticed, the post was for the guy getting aero with his hands on the fork, not the nose guy.

The foundation in the background tells me that they just finished a descent. I agree that the photographer's angle makes it hard to tell if that means they're now on a flat or a climb, though.

Start your own thread on the nose. This one is about being more aero than umd.

That's a new take on getting aero, and what the heck is the guy in the middle doing? This pic makes me wonder where in the crowd is Rod Serling.

LesterOfPuppets 02-20-10 03:36 PM

I was wondering about the middle dude too. Looks like he's fixin' to bump off his teammate.

his nose will be fairing badly if he hits a big enough bump riding like that.

Either that or dislocate his leg at the knee joint. I wince every time I see that down stroke.

Reynolds 02-20-10 08:55 PM

One of my friends used to do that when he tried to break away on his MTB, but only on pavement.

Bob Dopolina 02-21-10 09:00 AM

Could it be he's working the lock out on his forks?
