Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Assuming 20 mph:

(5 minutes / 60 minutes) x 20 mph = 1.67 miles of walking back to your car.

Poor you.

joking aside, how far have others been forced to walk before giving up and getting the cell phone out?

Recipe for winter success: Combine the television with the ride. I did rollers over the weekend and re-watched the first half of Year of the Dragon with Mickey Rourke.

Well, 5 mins in the rain and then pffffffffff. Rear tyre went. I cursed, threw a tantrum and threatened my bike with violence. Then I walked back to the car, which surprisingly turned out to be a pretty long walk, and gave up.

Oh, to live in a warm and sunny climate like Britain...
