Lots of responses. Everyone has a different approach that works for them. (Some are just a little more forthcoming about sharing) On a ride that's an hour or less, I usually only take water. Longer than an hour, I usually take some kind of snack - granola clusters or half a sandwich or something. Where I'm riding factors in to when I eat it. If it's a multi use path with regular trailhead stations, I might stop there. If it's a two lane road in the middle of nowhere with very little traffic and a group that would prefer not to stop as often, I've been known to eat while riding. A while back, I picked up a couple of those plastic soap boxes for traveling. You know the kind... holds one bar of soap and has a lid so you can pack your regular soap. Walmart carries them for about a dollar each. They hold a nice sized snack or half a sandwich, fit in a jersey back pocket, and protect the contents from getting smooshed. Sure is fun watching the expressions on people when you whip out a half a PB&J and start chowing down. LOL
