Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Giro Advantage 2 tt helmet - Nashbar sale for $80 - good deal?

I'm new to cycling/triathlons, but I've found out that I'm apparently pretty competitive - I have a swimming background and am a strong runner... just need to work on that bike leg.

1. What is the advantage of a tt helmet vs. a regular one. How much of a difference does it make?

2. How good of a deal is the Giro Advantage 2 from Nashbar (currently on sale for $80 - 33% off plus, 20% off w/12hr sale). Should i "BUY IT NOW?".

I'm doing several triathlons this spring (at least 4 more - i'm on a college club team).

It could be a good spare for cooler weather, I would hate use one on a warm day.

There was a study that showed you how much wattage you save between a TT helmet and a normal, along with riding in the drops vs hoods, and lastly having a TT bike or a regular road bike.

There was a video somewhere on testrider.com

It saves about .010-.012m^2 CdA. This is about an increase of .6kph in your average speed or .37mph.
