I'm wondering if something like that would be covered by Trek's warranty.
BTW I never commented in that historical thread, but my personal opinion is that if it was a mfr defect during the mfr process, the frame should have been warrantied - even though it was purchased second-hand. If WR would have been in a crash due to that defect, he would have a good case of liability against Trek regardless that it was 2nd hand. |

So there the threaded part is glued in to opening then the bb is threaded into it? If thats the case then the there doesn't need to be much area to glue it on too because the bb bearings should let the cranks rotate freely

What did you expect? The candy coated shell on that thing had been compromised.

Just out of curiousity, would you mind posting a pic of the other side for comparison?

So, you are trying to repair the frame now? Your definition of disgust must be quite different than mine.

WR needs to make friends in the performance sailing crowd. I14s etc. Those guys eat CF repairwork for breakfast.

I could fix that frame. JB Weld would definitely take part, as would a sheet of CF cloth. The following picture showing a possible crack through the bearing support diameter bothers me most. If that is cracked, then nothing can be done except use the frame as trolling fodder for the foreseeable future.
The term is 'bait', like this: I'd have had better light for the photos, but I recently changed all my extension cord storage to coiled, and I couldn't get any of them untangled in time for the photo shoot.

I thought Trek gave a life time warranty, cant it just go back for a replacement? Or am i being a bit nieve on that one?
|
^He's not original owner. Trek told him to beat it.

Background story for the imaginary BFer who hasn't heard it: my 4-year-old Madone died when the BB shell came loose inside the frame. A repair attempt was made, but it didn't hold.

Even though it's second hand, maybe you can work something out with Trek. Maybe a discount on a new frame?
That sounds about right. |

I agree. WR should just contact Trek about it. I'm sure they will help him out, even though it isn't the original owner. They seem like nice guys. :innocent:

Better idea. Who here wants to buy it and work out the non-original-owner warranty with Trek? I'm taking bids.
|
$10.00 but no more.... Would be a good wall hanger.

Oh, for a minute there I thought you were talking about a frame getting damaged.
Remember, folks: water rockets don't work unless they're topped off with a lot of air. |
Good one. That'll teach me

Nah, this is a carbon fiber frame, so we need to go high-tech with the repair. Use fiber reinforced strapping tape instead.

this didn't get damaged. this is a manufacturing flaw. trek should stand by their product.
Am i right, waterrocket? |

P.S. your recent head smack certainly hasn't hurt your memory.:thumb: |
Brano Meres can tell you how to fix that, he has done that a few times already.
