I thought Bettini..

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I thought Bettini..

Yeah shocker, when paid by a bike company he endorsed their product. on a side note though, how would you like to roll up to a masters race and be lined up against him.

the bike was built for him by Pista Palace here in san diego. They are a huge Colnago and Time dealer. The figured since he was Italian that he should ride an Italian bike.

If I had known Bettini was going to be there, I may have been tempted to drive 100 miles to go ride in the rain. Probably still wouldn't have done it, though.

If you remember when Quik Step went to Specialized, Bettini kept saying that existing Specialized frames wouldn't let him get "low enough" in the drops. He ended up riding a women's sized frame, if I remember correctly.

A San Diego shop built him the frame? I think it's interesting that he flew to the US, picked up a bike at a local shop, and rode it on a century.
