pedals vibration at high gears (lower cogs)
Hello People,
I just put in a new 11-23 rear cassette and my pedaling goes through strong vibrations at high gears (lower cogs). I went from 11-26 to 11-23. Can anyone tell what I can do to fix the problem?
THANKS!

How many miles were on the old cassette? Did you replace the chain also? How many miles on the chain? Did you adjust the barrell adjuster? Did you use the original spacer? Could be a lot of things.

I was hoping to interchange between 11-23 and 11-26 without having to modify the chain everytime. Will this work and im i going to run into unproper chain length?
Thanks!

Was either cassette SRAM? Were they both SRAM?

What did you adjust on the derailler? A high limit screw that is backed too far out will cause vibration when using the top cog. BTDT. It could also just be the new cassette breaking in and meshing with the chain. I've seen this a few times after cassette replacements using the exact same size and brand cassette, regardless of new chain or not.

If it's a throbby sort of vibration, where each throb corresponds to a link, that's mismatched amounts of wear in your drivetrain.

They should not need a spacer unless the wheels are Mavics.

Vibrations like you describe can happen before the chain and cassette get worn in to each other. A really heavy wet lube may quieten it down for a while until everything beds in.
Did your 11-26 cassette have 11 and 23 rings on it? If it did, then an 11-23 cassette is exactly the same chain wrap, so the length won't be a problem.
