Thanks.

pedals

mrvile 03-10-10 07:25 PM

Ugh, that's the worst misspelling of pedal ever.

Anyway, I personally found clipless to be easier to use/get used to than clips and straps.

Japhy 03-10-10 07:26 PM

Nice. Welcome to the club.

umd 03-10-10 07:27 PM

I'm just waiting for someone to say it...

hao 03-10-10 07:28 PM

i'm in amazement too. i didn't know an elementary school kid could have a wife.

JoelS 03-10-10 07:29 PM

My 8yo rides clipless. If he can do it...

DuraAce 03-10-10 07:37 PM

At least he got the "clipless" right.

you'll fall eventually, everyone does. (not really)

anyway good for you, its nice to see enthusiasm like you're showing, keep up the good work.

umd 03-10-10 08:29 PM

;)

chado445510 03-10-10 08:30 PM

Yes, when I switched from toe straps to clipless pedals and shoes, I saw an immediate increase in my accelerating, top speeds, and even sustaining those for much longer. Also my climbing and (please forgive me...) average speed increased. So yes, being a noob, I was amazed also.

lazerzxr 03-10-10 08:30 PM

Missing half the pedal stroke?

Kimmo 03-10-10 08:32 PM

Hi there.

It's a nice, welcoming vibe around here, eh?

Scott4957 03-10-10 08:39 PM

Thanks again.

Gluteus 03-10-10 08:44 PM

Glad to hear it.

Just in time for Spring.

I can’t believe but I felt, despite thinking that only total morons would fall, but it was kind of “half fall”: because I felt only on one side…:twitchy::lol::crash:

Velo Dog 03-10-10 08:54 PM

Glad you're enjoying the bike, but just as a personal observation about clipless: I've ridden the same 25-mile commute between 2500 and 3000 times since 1979, on bikes ranging from a mountain bike with knobbies to a recumbent and my Rambouillet, and pedals from BMX platforms to rat traps with toe clips and three different clipless systems. I don't keep a strict log anymore, but I did for years, and there's NO difference based on pedal types or my connection or lack of it between pedals and shoes. Tires make a big difference and the weight of the bike makes a small, somewhat inconsistent one. The pedals, none at all. There's about a 1:30 margin in my average times, depending on weather, traffic, stoplights and how i feel (my BEST time is four minutes faster, but that was a fluke). Whatever advantage clipless gives is well within that, for sure.

I'll respectfully disagree with Velo Dog. I went clipless in Summer 1989, not too long after the first Looks came out. Immediately I noticed huge differences.

1. Less foot pain and numbness.
2. Much greater connection and "feel" of the bike.
3. More confidence getting in and out.
4. No more broken straps and clips.
