Looking for a road bike

Hi

I am new in bicycling sport. I am looking for the bike road, but my budget is limited. Do you have an suggestion for road bike around $200 to $300.

Thank you for your time.

on your budget... bikesdirect.com. I'm looking for a house... my budget is $5000 - a pretty similar question. In this budget range... I'd expect my house to have wheels... but for $300 for a bike... I'm not sure I'd expect to get wheels.

Used...try to find out your size, then hit craigslist/ebay. I don't think you'll find any new bike either mountain or road for that much. You might find a single speed for that price but thats not really somthing for a new person. You really need to think about increasing your budget if you really want new. The bad part about buying used is it will realisticly need to go to the shop to get checked out and maybe cable and cases, that will be about $60. This is not a cheap sport maybe you should borrow/rent for a couple days and use the bike like you really would and see how it goes.

New road bike budget is $800 or so and it goes WWWAAAAYYYY up from there..

Bikesdirect.com looks like your only option if you want to buy new. You might get lucky snagging a good, used bike at a LBS, but with your budget, that's highly unlikely. However, if you check Craigslist and/or eBay, you can find a used, classic bike for your price range pretty easily.

Yep, another vote for used in that price range. There's a lot of nice stuff out there for less than $500, just take your time till the right bike comes along.

The fit will be the most important thing--there's plenty of info around the web (plenty on this site as a matter of fact) to help you get close on proper fit.

Happy hunting!
