Any other alternatives for a bike for my wife?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Any other alternatives for a bike for my wife?

My wife would like to go on some rides with me, but using her 31 lb mountain bike with knobby tires is a no-go. So we borrowed a friend's wife's road bike and my wife liked it and she made it up some ten percent grades with no problem (I was impressed).

So now, I'm excited because I get to buy more bike stuff!!!

I think that the key criteria is a more upright geometry like a Specialized Roubaix or my RS, but with WSD specs. I've narrowed it down to the Specialized Ruby Elite Triple or a Cannondale Synapse Carbon Fem 5.

Are there other comparable WSD bikes out there that we should consider? Trek has some WSD Madones, but would they be considered upright geometry or more race geometry? The Madone 4.5 WSD seems to be comparable to the bikes above, but I'm not sure if the 4 series is a more upright geometry, and Trek's website doesn't explain the difference between the 4, 5, and 6 series. They have a Pilot WSD, but it's not a carbon frame.

Thanks for your help.

Cliff

BTW, my wife is 5 feet tall.
