Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Are you flippin' kidding me?

Are you flippin' kidding me? Mid 50's to 60's for a week, and the first day of spring brings me this.

Discuss.

It's Michigan. Not much more to say other than that's why I don't live there .

Oh no! You're snowed in by cold and wet roads!
How can someone possibly ride in those roads when it's all covered in water!?

I've tried to dignify a response by providing justifications and excuses. I can't.

Wait- I don't own any cold weather riding clothing?

Same thing going on in KC. Difference being my Raynaud's Disease prevents me from doing any cold weather riding. Booties help but I haven't found a solution for my hands yet. Probably going to try heated gloves next year. They're too pricey to attempt for the rest of this cold season though.

Then don't. We love it here. I've had plenty of offers elsewhere. No to all.

64 on the coast today. I wore a s/s base layer but I could have gone with a l/s one and been comfortable.

My niece lives in Grand Rapids. I like Michigan. It's prettier than here.

Sorry about the Raynaud's. I have a co-worker with this and she has purple hands and ears all day.

My booties help, but i was still freezing during a 35 degree ride.

I want to buy cooler weather clothes, but summer is coming up and I don't have money comin' outta my ears.

Exactly the same situation in Chicago. Plus I had to work 12 hours days till 9pm all week so was really hoping to put some miles in on the weekend. well looks like swimming laps again.

Exactly. I keep convincing myself that the cold weather is almost gone so I'll focus on cold weather gear next year. I'm heading to Hawaii in 3 days to escape this nonsense. Went 3 weeks ago and it was too beautiful not to head back again. I've decided to make a monthly Hawaii, Mexico, or Central America trip every month there is cold weather in KC.

Nice photo.

In related news, I was out on my Waverunner today. Water was a bit chilly in the low 70s, but I was out anyway.

Tomorrow is bike day. At least that is the plan

No snow here in detroit, but it was pretty cold and windy. High 30's with extremely chilly northerly winds. Still managed to get about 3.5 hours in. 258 miles in the past seven days. Rest day tomorrow

My pool was in the low 60s when I jumped in but I'm about 120-130 miles to the north.

I'll be in the FL keys in 2 weeks for spring break. That day can't come soon enough.

All you suckers will wish you lived in Michigan come August.

It inevitably happens to me every year when I'm ready for that first mountain bike ride. I feel like kicking my cat!

Not really. I'll be In my boat, tied off to a mooring ball, wearing shorts and a t-shirt, and straping on a scuba tank. The water will be warm, and clear.

The Great Lakes will still be cold.

As for riding, just do it early in the morning or later in the afternoon. It stays light out till at least 8:30 pm.

Same thing here in Nebraska but glare ice on roads instead of just water.

I've been riding my bike all week and was looking forward to a 40 mile ride today.

40 miles on a Spin Bike is just not the same

Been a long winter up there. But not unprecedented, I've had 2 feet of snow on my front yard in Northern MI the last week of April.
