Tube patches for 23mm tires
Hello. I was curious as to what patches people are using for the narrow tires/tubes. Right now I've been using the 25mm patches for Rem tip top. I see they make a 16mm version patch and advertise it as "extra thin for narrow tires." Has anyone tried these extra thin patches? The 25mm patch seems pretty thin already. I can't imagine going thinner. But going to a 16mm patch seems like the right think to do. Comments?

I've used the 25mm Rema patches without any problems. They work OK for "snake bites" as well which I can't see the 16mm covering.

16mm.
And the smallest tires I run are 28mm. I can't recall ever having a flat the 16mm could not cover. |

Anyone seen the 16mm at their LBS? A few available on ebay. Then shipping charges. Jensonusa says unavailable for a box of 100.

Edited to add: I just realized I don't see the 16mm here. Odd because this is where I bought mine. |
I see them. Its a TT04 kit but you only get 4 patches. #9 on that list. Those kits are are like for an occasional rider. I've gone through like 3 boxes for 2 bikes. Seems more economical to get a big box of them somewhere. A box of 100 for like 20 bucks is only .20cents a patch. Even less at other places. The other box kits are like $3 for 4 patches at the LBS. Rip off.

I bought an 8oz can of Rema glue and 100 16mm patches from them.
According to my records, I received it on 06/29/2009. Hopefully, it is just an out-of-stock issue. (Not that I plan to need 100 more patches any time soon.) |
I was just looking at the Rema website. The patches have a 5 year shelf life.
