Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone in the San Diego Area

Anyone in San Diego interested in getting together once or twice a month (or more if desired) to do a 30-40 mile session on a weekend?

Seems there are enough Forum members from the area to do this? Seems like there are like six members from North County alone? Probably to do such all we need is a central organizer to accept PM's and decide where to meet?
Where are most from North county, San Diego proper..Maybe a good idea would be like a Solana Beach meeting point and ride from there? Other metropolitian areas have accomplished this. Why not we cyclists here in cycling paradise?
Might find problems such as I have..Working alternative weekends...Good idea MelloBoy.

depending on how many people/where they come from, i could probably ask the ski shop i work at over winter/spring to see if we could use their parking lot to park at as I'm sure not everyone wants to ride out from temecula, do a 30-40mile ride, and ride back out to temecula or what not. Hansen's in Encinitas (not too far north of Solana Beach)...it's right across the street from Java Hut at the south end of downtown Encinitas.

A ride from Encinitas to Oceanside along PCH 101 and back or Encinitas to UCSD and back I think would make a good starting ride. Any ideas?

Mello . You from Temecula? If so pass you on the road sooner or later..I live in Fallbrook, commute to Temecula regularily..Yes, for San Diego BF members a central coastal ride should be a convenient starting point.

I just recently started riding again after a several year hiatus and was just thinking about finding a group to ride with. I live out in Santee and work in Miramar, but would be willing to drive to Encinitas for an ocasional ride.

One convenience we all have..Should we ride the coastal route..The Coaster commuter train..With that convenience,we can easily get to one another's starting point and just slightly prolong our usual coastal ride, yet all get in a group ride.
