Trek 1000 Fork??
So heres the deal. I went to my LBS today looking at a 2004 Trek 1000. The guy there told me that since the 2005's were coming out and he had a few left, that if he had any in my size he would sell me one for 479. Now I pretty much made up my mind that I want the 1000. The problem is, is that he told me it had a carbon fork. Now I thought he was lying so I went online and checked http://www.trekbikes.com/bikes/2004/road/1000.jsp . And unless im reading that wrong, it dosent have a carbon fork. My question to you guys is, since I know I want the 1000, and I am fine with the fork it really does have, if he tries to sell me one in my size, should I just overlook that and take it********** Thanks
P.S. Does Trek own Lemond??? cause he told me that too. |
Looks like it does not have a carbon fork as the stock fork. They may have changed it.
Not sure if TREK owns LeMond, but they may have a marketing agreement with them. I got into the TREK dealer meeting last weekend and they were displaying LeMond as well as Klein. |
No they didnt change it, I dont know a lot about bikes, but I knew enough to know that the one on there wasn't carbon.
|
Then I'd question the motives of the sales person who told you it was carbon. Do they really know bikes at that store?

I just wanna know if u think id be safe going for it, if I could get the bike at that price in my size. Ive had work done there before, and they have usually been ok, theve been there longer then I have, over 20 years

I'm fairly certain the 05 trek 1000s have carbon forks.

The 2005 does have a carbon fork. Also, they're selling in my area for $549

The 2005 trek 1000 comes stock with a carbon fork. I have one.
|
the '04 Trek 1200 has a carbon fork, he may have been thinking of that
|
Or maybe it was the silver one. Those have black forks maybe the dude thought it was carbon :)
|
But my original Questions still stands, should I not buy from them, cause the salesman delibreratly lied to me? (the 04 1000 does not have a carbon fork)
|
We do not know enough to be able to judge intent of the salesman. Maybe he made a mistake? Maybe not. We don't know. How have they been to deal with in the past? I have no idea. Go with your gut instinct.

anyho.....I have to get out more. besides it's 12:40am and I just got my projects finished for class tomorrow. The 04 1000 DOES NOT have a carbon fork, the 1200 does. The o5 1000 DOES have a carbon fork. Nothing wrong with aluminum for a starter. |
