Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hmm...what's the most popular saddle?

I'm thinking about getting a new saddle because it gets harder to stay seated after 70 miles or 4 hours. But instead of recommending me a saddle, i also want to see other people's saddles, and see which one is most commonly used, if there is one.

I still have the stock Bontrager Race saddle -.-

What kind of saddle do you have?

EDIT:
I just found a thread which helped me a lot, but if people can still describe the good saddle companies and the bad ones, or the types of saddles like butterfly and cutout, that would be great because I don't know about the saddle market very much.

Here's the thread i found just in case someone else needs help- https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ghlight=saddle

The most popular saddle? My guess would be . . . the one that came on the bike.

My saddle? Brooks Team Professional (Everything else on my bike is cutting-edge. The Brooks is a tad heavier, but it works.)

Specialized Toupe saddles have a lot of fans. I am one of them, that's about all I ride.

The Specialized Toupe seems popular right now or anything by Selle Italia. I like the flite model. I have a Fizik Arione right now.

Mantra didn't work for me. And the Airone didn't work either.

SMP Compsit gets the nod for now.

That is my choice.
The one on my current road bike was purchased ~1995 and still looks nearly new.
The one on my touring bike was purchased used on eBay about 2 years ago.

compared to other seats with generous cutouts what is the advantage of having it go all the way to the front of the saddle - ventilation ? or is it for extra flex or something ?

Currently my most popular saddles are the Selle Italia Flite (original oldschool ti) and the SLR. I like the SLR, but I desperately need an XP version.

After alot of attempts with newer designed saddles I went back to the old school.

Rainbow stripes are kind of cheesy but it goes with my bike pretty well actually.
