Any mantra/prayer before heading out the door or while on the road?
I have been riding road for about a year now. (got tired of driving to ride the MTB). Seems like I find myself saying things to myself.
Usually along the lines of "I have every right to be on the road". Or when I am getting tired "focus". Or "another idiot"
What do you say to yourself for reassurance, while dealling with cars, peds, other riders?

I made an oak keyrack with a mirror in it that has the following written on it with a wood-burning pen:
A hostile person lives in a hostile world.
A loving person lives in a loving world.
Everyone you meet is your mirror. -- Ken Keyes
Every once in a while my eyes catch it on the way out, and I usually have a pleasant & safe ride that day with neither confrontations nor hostility. (Probably just a coincidence though.)

Oh yeah, every time I belch during a ride, it reminds me:
BRPS:
Breathing - I noticed I can sustain the same watts with a lower heart rate if I make a conscious effort at really deep belly breathing, (like they do in yoga.)
Relax - Always catch myself tensing up, especially in the shoulders which doesn't improve power or aerodynamics.
Posture - Everything feels better & faster when you elongate your spine.
Seating Position - Are you up on your sit bones and being mindful of your taint?

I have one of these hanging from the saddles of my 2 bikes.

Silly? Sure, I'm not even Catholic but can't hurt and there is still a little bit of a retro grouch in me underneath the titanium, CF and Ergo. Riders have been relying on the Madonna of Ghisallo for a long time....

I say the Lord's prayer before the start of every race. Pretty much covers everything.

usually in my head whenever a car drives close to me or "acts" inconsiderate i shout "jagoff!!!" or "damn kids!!!" i usually shout one of these every minute or two. or if i'm going up a hill Phill Ligget is announcing in my head about how I'm such a bad ass and my brief case of destruction is brimming with pwnage.. etc etc... then someone faster rides past me and phill stops announcing for a few seconds.. then he starts back up again.. usually.

my steel bike has a pendant bolted to it (Catholic). for racing / training on my Cdale I just put on the road id (ankle).
but I do have mental cues - breath, relax, spin, suck it up, focus, etc.

Not really a mantra, but every time I come out of the saddle going up a hill, all I can hear is "There he goes, dancing on the pedals..."
