Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't know exactly where you're going with this, but if that's your inclination, I wish you well.

Hey I fully understood but just felt the urge to poke a little fun at your flapping shorts and 70's porno-groove themed writing which (hilarious man-love content aside) wasn't half bad.

There's a regular phenomena at fg/ss where someone riding a brakeless touring conversion with arrospokes and no foot retention, whilst drinking a Pabst and smoking describes in detail how they were doing laps of the local park/bike route and 'totally smashed a roadie in full team kit', who in fact was probably on a recovery ride, or had just done a century. They often add a little diatribe about 'who do these old guys think they are with their bikes that cost money and are not made out of scaffolding poles?'

Nice to know it's a fairly universal experience.

Pretending to be an idiot to get a rise out of people is a lot more contemptible than just being an idiot by nature.
