bike computer
which computer would allow me to switch with multiple bikes? and cheap too?
|
My Ciclomaster CM215a has settings for two different bikes... Also comes with an altimeter.

The Cateye Mity 8 has dual wheel size options and is very cheap (in price) I have one and its definitely not cheap on quality. I like it. :)

What do you mean by "the whole thing"? Typically you'd buy a second sensor and computer mount for your second bike, and just move the computer unit back and forth.
i meant, take the magnet, sensor, and computer out, and put it on another bike. |

If you really want to deal with removing your sensor and mount every time you switch bikes, of course you can do that. You'll get tired of it pretty quickly though.

To answer your question, no, you need a second sensor
so, i gotta buy another sensor, magnet, and the mount? know any cheap places where i can get one? I think a cateye 8 |
Or you could buy a unit that uses a GPS, like the Garmin 500, which has a second bike setting, will work without a sensor, although I think you need a sensor on the second bike to determine wheel size automatically...

cateye, and most every other company, have harnesses and sensors available for sale as replacements. Having 2 wheel settings on your computer allows you to change tires or bicycles. The wireless computers that I've had, strada wireless and V2c, both recognize and reset to 2 different sensor/transmitters. I find the wireless computers to be worth the extra investment.

I had a Planet Bike Protege 8.0 on my MTB that had two different setting for wheel sizes, but I lost it after a year or two. I went out and bought a new v9.0 for the same bike, but didnt need the new cradle/sensor setup, so I put it aside. When i got my new road bike, I threw the sensor on it, so I now have two bikes that use the same computer on cradles on each bike.
I also use the GPS on my iPhone, but I find that the app that I use isnt as accurate as the computer is. When I upload my rides to the app's site, I see it cuts a lot of corners. |
