I own these. Had them for about a month now and I'm pretty pleased with them, especially for the price.

I have these also. Note that they have Italian sizing, which means that they are very small. Even though I wear a large in Performance Ultra bibs, and Extra Large in Voler bibs, I got XXL in Castelli, and they are still pretty snug, particularly in the length of the straps; I could use another inch or two, Its OK, though, my wife and I have already had as many children as we want ;-)

For reference, I am 6-0 tall, 210 pounds, and have a 38" waist.

I don't see why people say to size up on this stuff. Castelli and other Euro brands are made for athletic people and they fit the measurements provided on their prospective websites. If you are overweight, order a size up but stick with the sizing chart. I wear a medium Castelli bib and I am 6 ft and weigh 165 lbs. The length of the bibs is tight walking, but once you get on the bike it is perfect.

I think they ignore the sizing chart in favor of comparing against whatever vanity-sized PI/Primal gear they have. When I read on-line reviews of bike clothing, I seek out stuff that has lots of complaints for being sized too small and then buy by the sizing chart. It works every time.

I guess this is directed at me. Forgive me for trying to help the original poster with some practical advice. I actually ordered from Amazon using their sizing chart and the shorts (XL) were too small. Sent them back, got the XXL, and they fit in the legs and the seat, but the straps are a bit too short. I have compared sizing charts, and the one on Amazon and the one on Castelli's web site disagree. According to Castelli's site, the XXL's are supposed to fit a 38 in waist, which is what I have. The sizing charts say nothing about height or body length. Thus, the sizing chart must be for short people.

As for the crack about the fit being for athletic people, is 165 pounds where you have to be to be athletic? I didn't know that was the standard. I guess football players and hockey players who are 6 foot and 225 must then be unathletic ;-)

Quite a difference in sizes for the same product; I wonder why. As it is, I have a 38 in waist and have the XXL, so by the Castelli size chart, this should fit, and it does except that it is short in the body. I am 6 ft tall, so not an unusual height. Perhaps the typical Italian is shorter in the body than the typical American? If you are short in the body, or just short, maybe the length will not be an issue.

I've got a pair of Castelli Velocissimos in XXL that fit great. I'm about 5'11", and 210 lbs or so, with a 34" waist. I find, though, that I have to buy shorts to fit my thighs and not my waist. I'd also venture that the straps are perfect for me.

I wonder how much sizing differences are because of differences in build, especially with stretchy apparel like cycling gear.

I love mine. I am a XL all day and the Castelli's are also fit as a XL.
6ft, 185, 34 inch inseam.

I have a Castelli bib with long legs for cold riding. It has the KISS chamois. It is an OK set-up. I have both better and worse. How long are your rides? Under 30 miles, it should be OK.

I've sworn off Castelli. Even XL's don't fit me right, whereas in other brands some XL's are too big.

The fit depends on the brand, and I agree that Castelli cuts for Europeans and smallish Americans . . . no offense intended . . . it is what it is!
