Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The results lists them as DNF, so my guess is they have had to withdraw.

Truly sorry to hear that.

Yes, they withdrew for sure. It was announced last night on the RAAM facebook update.

Team officially pulled out. We have one crew member still in hospital. RV had 4 crew members and 4 riders in at the time (myself included). We were halfway between durango and pagosa springs and making a good run, but with the riders down, 4 bikes down, and a crew member in the hospital, we collectively made the decision to pull out. I will post more when I get home. Flying out of Durango tonight for DCA.

I read the paper article that was done online on the accident. Also read some of the comments some of the locals made. The usual ****** bag patrol.

In any case, I sincerely can relate to the frustration you guys must be feeling. All the training, hopes, time and man hours invested, etc. In the big picture, everybody is "relatively well". You guys had a very good cause and that is to be commended. There is always next year!! Best of luck to all..............

Sorry to hear about the crash and DNF ... that's unfortunate.

Homeyba's team is still going (he posts in the LD forum) ... you can follow it through the links on this thread in the Long Distance forum:

Good news today is that our final crew member was released from the hospital and taken home to Denver. We're taking some time to reset our heads and get prepared for the coming year. We all certainly feel like we have unfinished business and were extremely disappointed to have to DNF as RAAM rookies. We'll take a lot of lessons learned and prepare for next year. Thanks for all the support to everyone.
