Roubaix frameset: Help with fair sale value
 

I have a brand new unassembled 2010 Roubaix Comp frameset (54). The issue is I will be getting either an upper end Tarmac or Roubaix this coming fall, and for my use it makes better sense to have an alu. or steel framed bike for back up.

So what would be a good number?

Start at $100 under retail and allow some wiggle room for negotiation.

As far as I can see there is no retail price for this frame.

At Cambria a Salsa Pistola bike is listed at $1895, with the same value components as the Roubaix Comp. The Salsa frame is listed at $795, an $1100 difference.

Ah.. you're right. They sell the 9r CF frameset, but not your 7r. In that case, I'd probably list it at $1200 ($1500 under complete Roubaix Comp retail price) and expect to negotiate down to a grand or just a bit under.

^ That sounds in the ball park I know the Expert and the Pro both have what's listed as a FACT IS 9r. Not sure if they (Expert, Pro) are the same frame, but the Pro goes for $1800+.

The Expert and Pro frameset are the same. Without any other sales to look at for comparison, I'm gonna stick with $1000-1200 for your frame. I think that's a fair return for you; and by building up that frame with 105, the buyer will still come out well ahead of buying the complete bike.

factor in that the buyer will not get the legit lifetime warranty on the frame too, as far as i know most bike company only covers
the OG buyer.

Good point. I had been planning to set the price at 925. shipped and even without warranty, based on MegaTom's valuation that seems a fair deal. Still, its less complicated to avoid the small probability of damage in shipping, or the unlikely chance that the new frame itself might be defective.

In that light, I'll keep this Roubaix. Have been happy with it, and not too anxious to part with it. This opens the door for a custom S3 tubed steel frame in Sept.
