Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Unmarked Seatpost min. insertion point

I have a Campagnolo Record 2-bolt 26.6mm seatpost that has no minimum insertion point marked. Best advice on what that should be? 180mm length and I'm a bit of a Clyde.

The simplest rule of thumb is that the bottom of the post should extend at least 1cm below the lower edge of the top tube, or 6cm, whichever is greater.

Well, it looks like it isn't going to make it. To get up to my new seat height I'd have to leave less than a cm below the top tube.
Bummer.
In the 26.6 market there is a choice between the kalloy at $24 and the Thomson at $100.

Those seatposts are pretty short because the fit in older bikes were different than todays standards. Sincerely, get a new seatpost, you can screw up the frame (the seat tube gets markings from inside out) if the seatpost is not inserted properly.

Good luck

I think this is finally going to be what gets me to strip this bad boy down and send it off to cyclart for a repaint and a complete rebuild. This bike's been limping along for a bit with a true frankenstein mix of parts and she deserves better. The frame is a 60cm Columbus tubed Cilo with a mix of Campy, Mavic, and Shimano parts from the last 3 decades. I'm going to strip her down and while she's away start piecing together a respectable group and wheelset. I just hope I can scrounge up the right BB parts as it's got some weird bastardized french/italian thing going on that took the guy at Elliot Bay Bikes over a month to procure last time. Thanks again for the advice, everyone. Obviously if I end up going to all this trouble I'll be springing for the Thomson.

You can get a Thomson for a lot less than $100 on Ebay. New in the $75.00 range / $50.00 if you are willing to go slightly used.
