Casseroll vs. Clubman

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Casseroll vs. Clubman

I am trying to decide whether to sell my Bianchi Veloce (2000/01 vintage) and buy a complete bike, either the new Raleigh Clubman or the Salsa Casseroll. I could also possibly buy a Salsa frame/fork and install the campy stuff from the Veloce on it...but I have no experience riding the Salsa, though I have test-ridden the Clubman.

The ultimate goal is to have a good all-round bike that is comfy for long rides. I am set on steel, and my budget is limited...say 1200 if I sell the Bianchi...500-600 if I keep the components and only sell the frame and any parts I do not need.

Any strong opinions either way?

Love the Clubman for looks! Almost bought one at REI but they did n't have a 55-looks almost like the 1948 model.I rode a 59 and it rode well, but I am a budget shopper and always get my bikes on sale-can't find a good price on one.In that price range Jamis has a nice steel bike with carbon fork and mavic wheels,Schwinn has a new Le Tour legacy that has 105 instead of Tiagra-probably get that on sale at performance.
