Custom decals...what would you make?
I read about some kind of decal paper that you can print from any inkjet or lazer printer at home so no special equipment is required. This makes personalising your bike simple and you can change the look any time.
So what would you BFers put on your bikes? I was thinking of some kind of wild animal head tube badge and "HTFU" along the top of the top tube so when my head drops and I'm about to give up, I'll see those stirring words. |
I'd put, "thanks for reading this"....just kidding.
where did you read this? i'd like to check it out, and see if i can make this happen, or at least get some information. |

Pin up girl - either down the headtube where the top and down tubes connect, or right along the top tube. ;)

Here we go. :popcorn

On page 5 of this it shows someone's bicycle so it does work for bikes http://www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk...decalpaper.pdf Looks like someone decorated one of those pedal force nude black frames. |
i'm ging to call them tomorrow and find out just how temporary the decal is. I want it to not fall off after every wash but still be easily removeable with a bit of effort when you want to change it.
|
I'd probably just do something boring like my name or initials on my top tube.
|
I'd make replacement "Carbonello" decals for my fixed gear that are not looking too good right now.
|
I've yet to print any decals on my avery transparent decal paper.
I wonder how fast some colours from the inkjet will fade... reflective tape doesn't fade, but you need some skill to draw fonts in reverse and cut them out. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...9/pcaad904.jpg two Ps are easy as pi. |
aeo, lets see a pic of the whole bike. I was thinking of white lettering but the black on white on bare metal seems not bad at all.
|
On my mountain bike I have on more than one occasion though of doing a pin up WWII type thing on my forks.
Not sure that would suit my road bike though. |
"Per velo ad astra!"

"stop staring" on the back of the saddle

behold my frediculous bike
the red stuff at the back is [strike]hi-vis reflective tape[/strike] blood from my opponent's crushed souls. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...AAD9/vaad1.jpg |
very nice indeed. black on white background on metal it is then!
|
No one has said the obvious yet...
HTFU runner up (a bit too long maybe) : Ride up grades, not upgrades edit: nevermind about HTFU, I read the OP too quickly, it is in there. +1 to HTFU either way. |

Advice, if your design has white you will have problems because printers do not print white (some doe but doubt u have one of those), in those cases u have to print two decals one in clear and the other one in white and put one over the other one. You can find decal paper for laser or inkjets in a hobby shop just in case.
