Your bucket list.
What's in on your bucket list as far as cycling goes.
I will start with One the I just crossed off my list.
A new Felt AR4 / SL Premium Wheels.
To loose the 10 lbs. I gained while recuperating for the last 109 days.
A bike tour of Italy,
A bike tour of Spain
At least one century a year
To spend another summer in the Lake Placid area. (great biking area)
To do a Triathlon. (This means I have to learn how to swim)

Oooooh that could be a long list for me, I'll hit the highlights:
-sub 30 minute time up OLH (Bay Area,CA folks will know what I am talking about)
-climb Mt Tam and Mt Hamilton
-complete a century, and do a few every year after that. figure i will stick to metrics this year, then take on a century next year.
gear-wise:
-better set of wheels (saving up for this now)
-upgrade the crankset (thinking of a compact double) for when I am fit enough to do without the 30 ring.
my aspirations are modest

Finished mine, except for that one thing with Jane Russell, and if she's still alive she'd be about 90 now, so I'm going to take a pass on it.
Seriously, when my mom died in 1993 I found a list I'd made in sixth grade of things i wanted to do with my life. She'd saved it for almost 40 years. It was mostly 1950s 12-year-old stuff: Drive a race car, make a parachute jump, have a real girlfriend (translation: figure out what this "sex" thing is), get a motorcycle, become a writer. I was 48 when I found it, and I'd sort of by-accident done everything on the list except go on an African safari (cool then, not now) and boff Jane (for those who can't picture her: https://itiphonehome.files.wordpress....-c12148944.jpg. Remember, it was 1956).
I'm 65 now, and I've got a new list. No. 1 is a cross-country bicycle tour. I was scheduled to do it last summer, but had some health problems. Working my way back up now.

Wasn't there a thread a while back just like this? I don't know remember the title, but it was similar. Oh well.
1. Climb Haleakala, all the way to the summit instead of wimping out after reaching the visitor's center
2. Complete all 5 passes of the Death Ride (I am doing it for the first time this year)
3. Do a century in 5 hours or less (Chico Wildflower was my first century. Did it in 5:18)
4. Try road racing at least once (and not crash)
5. Compete in a triathlon (I've trained for one, but never actually competed)
6. Buy a pair of Assos FI13 S5 bibs and see what all the commotion is about
7. Do a double century perhaps?

I know what that working your way back up is like. I had a 109 day hiatus, with some thyroid and sinus issues and gained 10 lbs. and lost some of the stamina and strength it took so long to build up. Good luck to you.

1) L'Etape
2) Own a current top-of-the-line race bike
3) Sub- 5 hr. century
4) Cat 3
5) Ironman
The list might grow over time, but I think this is a good start.

Haleakala is definitely one.
Going to see a big climb of the Tour would be another, and maybe ride it. Hopefully will get to see a stage when they do the prologue in DC.
Do the ride across Canada. Will probably have to wait until my daughters are teenagers and won't miss their dad for a month at a time. Will probably break it into two parts. BC to Ontario, then Ontario to the east coast.

let's see:
- 1st century (scheduled for 2 weeks from now...assuming stopping to take a ferry across Long Island Sound doesn't break the fact that it's 70 miles, then another 50, and not 100 straight)
- sub 5 hr century (already done 60 miles in 3:30 last year and I'm much faster now, plus i didn't pace myself)
- double century
- sub 10 hr double century
- AG podium for triathlon
- Overall tri podium
- Overall tri win

fuggitivo solitario
short term
-24mph time trial, currently at 22.5mph. probably won't get it without a TT bike, but i'd be happy if i get close.
-start accumulating points for cat 3 upgrade by end of summer
-weight to 150lbs (im at 5'8.5" with 7 lbs to go, and id imagine the last 7 to be very hard to come off)
long term
-sub 1 hour 40k TT (if i do it on my road bike, all the better)
-cat 3 by next summer
-cat 2/Collegiate A in three years
-lose some lean body weight & fat, get down to 145 (feel free to bring on jokes about expensive eating disorder)
-flame time, eventually qualify for Boston Marathon

Here are a couple of mine and not in any order.......
Attend as many of the great cycle events as possible - Grand Tours, Classics and anything else that I can get to.
Climb all the TdF, Giro an Vuelta passes (and a few more on the way)
Own a couple of 'top-shelf bells and whistles' bikes
Own a custom made bike
A metric century at least monthly
I suppose that the #1 wish on the bucket list is to win enough $$$'s to enable me to achieve some of these 'cos what I earn isn't going to be enough.

From my 20-Year Anniversary thread ... https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ar-Anniversary
The past 20 years have gone from ... riding 2 miles around town ... to riding centuries and other long-ish distance rides ... to racing for 3 years ... to randonneuring ... to ultra-racing ... to touring .......... and also included commuting, trying out mtn biking, trying out recumbents, and generally covering a lot of kilometers.
The next 20 years ... hmmmmmm ...
-- I'd like to do more 24-hour races ... I have really enjoyed the ones I've done.
-- I'd like to continue with randonneuring and other long distance cycling.
-- I might like to try out some of the other long distance events I haven't tried yet.
My Links page is a bit of a "wish list" ... particularly the first three sections which reflect the three statements I've made above ... https://www.machka.net/links.htm
-- I've been working on cycling in every province/territory in Canada, every state/territory in Australia, every state in the US, and as many countries as I can, and I'm well on my way, but it would be great to complete Canada, Australia, and possibly also the US over the next 20 years.
-- And I'd like to do a lot more cycletouring ... short tours, mid-length tours, and long, long, long tours.
