using individual cogs on an Easton wheels?
So I was installing my new EA90 easton wheels and in the instructions, it said not to use individual cogs as it might lead to component failure quicker. They have a picture showing all 8 or 9 cogs together as 1 unit, then 1 individual cog for the highest gear, then the lockring. Whereas my cassette (shimano 105) is built of the last 4ish cogs are 1 unit, then the next 6 are just individual cogs with a spacer in between. Will this really damage my wheel's hub faster by using these? If so, does shimano make a 10 speed that's all in one unit?
thanks

install it correctly, don't worry about it. if the cassette isn't loose, there shouldn't be significant movement/wear on the hub splines.

if you're really worried about it, get the cassette clips from american classic (105, ultegra, da only).

I'm a big guy, 180lbs-ish. My ultegra cassettes will chew through an aluminum feehub body in about 6 months of hard riding. I bought the american classic clips. They slow down the wear, but don't stop it. If you're heavy, my recommendation would be to see if you can just buy a steel freehub body.

I'll third the cassette clips. They reduce the amount of damage to shallow 9sp splines on aluminium freehub bodies. Strel or Ti freehubs don't need them but the 9sp spline was just not spec'd to be made from aluminium.
They were not on AC's web site last time I looked but you can call and buy them.
