Grease for Speedplay Grease gun?

I lubed my pedals today and noticed I am out of grease. I thought finding grease for my Speedplay grease gun would be easy, but no. Lots of places sell the grease gun with a tube of grease, but I only need the grease.

Any suggestions? Even Speedplay has removed grease from their website.

go to an auto shop.

the tube threading is 9/16" I believe... I bought myself a 200g tube of wheel bearing grease, that is the same green stuff as marine grade grease.

It came with a tip that you could cut off to desired diameter, but I just chopped the entire tip off and it threaded into the grease gun perfectly.

finishline teflon grease. it's a pretty good all around grease

Or go to any place that sells hardware. There's nothing magic about the grease or the gun.

No, there isn't anything unique about the grease but I would like the grease tube to fit into the Speedplay grease gun. It takes a 3 ounce tube. A grease tube that fits into a standard grease gun is not the same size.

If you call up Speedplay or go to any shop you can get it ordered for you by the tube. I believe they switched from a marine grade grease to a new waterproof Silicone Grease with PTFE recently, and the change has just not yet been made on the website.

I called Speedplay about their new grease. They have it and it sells for $24.00 for a 3 ounce tube plus taxes and shipping I'm guessing. So, it sells for $128 per pound. This must be some really good grease. I think I will look for lower cost alternatives.

You want low cost. Get some marine grease from an auto supply store and a syringe to apply it, less than $5.

and this works with 9/16 threaded grease tubes that are dirt cheap at automotive or hardware stores.

If you have prime with Amazon, they sell Finishline stuff. The smaller tubes aren't priced too well, but the 1lb tubs are relatively cheap (and with Prime, shipping is free, and two-day).

Thanks for replying. After doing a little more research on line I found a couple of sources for grease to fit a Speedplay grease gun. The second link is probably the same stuff or similar to what Speedplay is recommending for their pedals.

Pedros screws right into the Speedplay head.
