Denver-ites.

I will be in Denver later this week but only for a day. Will have my bike with me and will have a rental car so don't mind driving somewhere to ride.

Any "must-do" ride recommendations?

REI-Lookout-Morrison-Bear Creek-Platte. just under 50mi, and a great way to see Denver cycling in one day....

Bergen Park to Echo Lake might be nice - a mountain ride not far out of Denver.

Lefthand Canyon out of Boulder.

Deer Creek Canyon - south Denver.

Yeah, it's a great ride, pretty simple directions, and gives you a taste of the mountains. Bit of a climb. ;D Don't do it if there's bad weather.

Park at AMante in north boulder, ride Lee Hill (steep) or Hwy 36, left on Lefthand Canyon to the town of Ward. Turn right (north) ride to Raymond (right turn), drop down Hwy 7 (right turn) (=South St. Vrain), refuel at The Stone Cup in Lyons. turn East on the main street (hwy 66) to get out of Lyons, turn right on Hwy 36, take this back to Boulder.

Bring your climbing legs and descending clothes.

Thanks everyone. Much appreciated.

This is a good one. Definitely spend the money on gas to drive to Boulder county.

Also you could go left at Ward, past Nederland and descend coal creek canyon (72), and back north on 93 to Boulder, but its kind of a hassle getting through Boulder on a bike when coming up 93.

check the weather first just to be sure. They are predicting snow above 7500ft again! (you could bring your skis instead of the bike and hit A-Basin- the conditions are still great!)

Actually, I just happened to see something in the news, I think Coal Creek is closed for some road work right now. Make sure to check first. GOlden Gate Canyon is an alternative in that direction. The ride back to Boulder on Hwy 93 is pretty trafficy, though.

I'll second the Lookout Mountain ride.

Jdon,

The weather looks good at the end of the week!

Golden gate to wondervu is a great ride - easy route, out and back or loop

I'm not a big fan of left hand though rode it last weekend - just not very pretty to me

Flagstaff road in Boulder to Gross reservoir is a short but beautiful ride - steep initially and at the top

Another favorite of mine is in Denver - Dinosaur ridge to Red Rocks and Parmalee
