Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm hoarding consumables and advance buying items I think I'll be needing because of the coming VAT increase. Any other UK residents doing the same? It's coming and it's coming soon to a shop near you.

How much increase?

How much hoarding? Do you have a closet full of tyres, chains, and Fred wear?

who knows? but it is said to be substantial. could go over 20%. The exrate has moved a lot since a few months back and so today's prices are reflecting the much better rate when the stock was bought. Petrol has gone up 25% in last few months so shipping costs must be up for imports. They'll all get passed on eventually. the move is too great to be absorbed and too long term.

I'm getting a spare chain for each bike and a spare pair of tyres for each bike and a parking stand and a stem because I know mine is too short (will wait for next weekend's ride to guage level of discomfort on the stem). Might get shorts. wearing out one of my two shorts.
