Time for an upgrade : D what do ya think?

Time for an upgrade : D what do ya think?
Thats right. After being told that i was a great rider, and i was keeping up with riders at speeds of 20 mph + with my hybrid, yeah i said hybrid! , (trek 7000) while these guys are on $2k+ carbon bikes, i thought it was time for an upgrade. I got my parents to help me get my first road bike. My budget was about $800-900 without accessories, most of which i had. So, time to do some research. After a few days it was down to the Trek 1.2, the Scott speedster s40, the Cannondale CAAD8, or the Gary Fisher Rail.
All of these bike were at my LBS so i went down there to look at them in person. I quickly decided not to get the Rail or CAAD8 due there low end components (Shimano 2300 or lower : / ). So down to the Trek and the Scott. I like Trek as a company, and since my first bike was a Trek, i was leaning towards them. But as they told me they didnt have any more 1.2's in the double crankset, and that there weren't any more available, i got very disappointed.
But once the technician pulled out the scott, my eyed grew wide. The first thing i noticed was how beautiful it was. Then as i started looking it at it, i realized how good it was for the price. Hydro formed 7000 series alloy frame (beats the treks straight gauge frame), tiagra dérailleur, carbon fork, everything i was looking for. It could be compared to the trek, such as the sora shifters and carbon fork, but everything else was just higher end. The only thing the was lesser then the trek was the 2300 front derailleur. But i could always upgrade that later to sora or above for like 30 bucks.
So what do you think, did i make a good choice? Or do you think i should have went with trek?

You did good; the Scott aluminum frame is very nice and you can upgrade the components later if you wish (you will, give it a couple months).

With 800-900 I would spend a week or 2 searching Craigslist...I just saw a nice allez here with Ultegra for $650. Very low miles. If you spend the time you will find a much better bang for your buck, the downside to this method is that it can take some time. I spent 3 months looking for my bike (but I was very picky).
But between the scott and trek I would go Scott FOR SURE.

Sounds like you've got the engine running well. Pick what you like and feels good. There's lot of future ahead, so ride the heck out of that Scott.

If you want my opinion, I think Scott makes some really nice bikes and you made a good decision that is right for you. Ride your new bike until the tires are bare, buy new tires and repeat. (Feel free to repeat as often as necessary or desired)

Haha thanks, I new it was the bike i wanted when i saw it. Just trying to see what the rest of you thought. Ill post some pics when i get a chance

If I were looking to purchase a bike, Scott would be one of the ones that drew my interest....beautiful bikes to my eyes.....congrats!

Did you actually take any of the other bikes out for a ride? I know vanity plays a big part in selecting a roadbike, but in the long run, fit an feel are what's most important. I say make sure you ride each of the other bikes, if they have your size ( and more than just around the parking lot) before you commit, and buy the one that has the best fit and feel. You may find that even though one bike has better components, the geometry is not ideal for your riding style. Components can always be upgraded, but if you are uncomfortable you wont be riding it anyway.
I would even suggest riding several bikes out of your price range so that you know exactly what kind of geometry suits you best. Then go shopping on ebay or craigs for a lightly used higher end bike.
