Cannondale shorts...chamois padding is totally torn up.
The chamois' padding in the sit bone area of my Cannondale classic shorts seem to have fallen apart on the inside...there's no padding left at all...it's basically an empty fabric sack now. Any ideas why?
And does anyone know if Cannondale apparel has a warranty? I bought them less than four months ago... and have only washed them maybe a dozen times. The padding is still in good shape inside of the rest of the chamois (ie, the front).

I bought these a couple weeks ago, hope this isn't my future. I'd bring them back to whoever you bought them from (your LBS?). I think all warranty work is handled through the individual dealers.

After only 4 months? I would definitely take them back and ask for a replacement. I have 2 pairs of Cannondale shorts (one pair of Carbons and one of whatever they call the one just below that). I've had them more than a year, wear them a lot (at least once a week for each, figuring I have 4 pairs total) and for a lot of miles, and they're still like new. Sounds like a manufacturing defect to me.

I think they might have gotten machine dried ONCE by accident (not by me!), but I don't see how that could ruin the sit bone section and not the whole chamois. OTOH, the chamois is thinnest exactly where my sit bones are... sort of helps to explain why I've never been so comfortable in the saddle... well, not really.
If I had known the $50 model had such a thin, low-end chamois I would have gladly paid more for a model with a better chamois!

Agreed. It's pretty unlikely that would cause the problem you're experiencing. Cannondale must have some sort of warranty. Over a year ago, I bought a pair of the Cannondale Domestique shorts. Love 'em and they're holding up very well. About two months ago, I bought another paid of the exact same line. They fell apart within a few weeks. Took both pairs back to the shop to show them the difference. They exchanged the pair that fell apart with a pair of Sugoi shorts without batting an eye. Only rode them once but like them so far.

Got new ones. The padding on the sit bone area is literally twice as thick as I remember, although it doesn't seem dense enough... It also feels like something that would fall apart the second it gets wet, compared to the padding on the front and sides, which feels somewhat more durable.

I can see where the padding is already starting to get thin again. After 20 miles!
I seriously doubt it, but can chamois cream hurt the padding in the chamois?
