Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

At least we got in some good shadow tags on the lead rider and a few pelotons and chase vehicle. Hopefully these show up o.k. on the final edit.

I'd be worried I watch the race and forget to fly.

Nice camera work considering you had to fly at the same time!

Hey! That's me! You can see the little vertical camera boom sticking up from the rear of my keel. You can also see the sunlight is glinting off the reflective Mylar tape I applied to my leading edges so the chopper pilot would see me better. Let's face it--I wanted to get in as close as I could and I didn't have time to pick up an air band transceiver so I could communicate with any powered aircraft following the race. The paraglider in your photo album is my buddy Stephen who also appears at the beginning of one of the videos.

Thanks for posting this.
Jonathan

The commentators didn't know what a hang glider was.

I remember the biggest comment, "And this man has a bird's eye view of the Tour from his strange flying machine."

Awesome work, though.

HAHA! We heard about you guys on Stage 6 as we where at the 25KOM hill and listening to the race patrol radio relay folks. They got a kick out of it but said that one of you came close to clipping their radio antenna so they thought. good stuff.
