Good Cycling Headphones?
I listen to a lot of lectures and book mp3's on my ipod during my daily commute. The problem is with all the wind noise I have a problem hearing them even though my ipod is turned all the way up. Anybody have any good recommendation for good helmet-friendly biking headphones?

I think these would look awesome...but I think earbuds are the preferred music delivery system on a bike. Oh...maybe not helmet friendly. Shure makes a nice earbud that blocks out noise but I'd recommend only using one ear since ya wanna hear faster cyclists yell "on your left!"

I used to listen to NPR podcasts on my commute, but found myself focusing too much on the podcast and not enough on the road/trail. I used the regular iPhone earbuds and they worked just fine, even without cranking up the volume.

I have shure E2Cs which are super nice. They're made to block out background sound, when I do use them I only use one, and I can keep my ipod volume at 1/2 and still hear everything.

I usually bike on a bike path so it isn't anywhere near as dangerous as biking in the street. I don't really use headphones when I'm in traffic.
One of my favorite parts of the ride is getting in a little "reading", so I was just wondering if anyone else had any luck with a particular model of headphone.

I agree. bike path or not, it is a bad idea to listen to anything while riding especially covering your ears. check your local laws too

Nice find Hapsmo911. I use the crap stockers from the iPod, but cut off the left bud at the wire junction. I don't really listen to anything, I just have background music with this setup.

I wonder if these anti headphone people lay in wait for these threads. 
Maybe nothing better to do?
Skull Candy are good, affordable buds that would block outside sound.
I use over the ear Sennheiser PX 100's most the time.
At least nobody has said search yet but it shouldn't take much longer I bet.

I would like to find small speakers or ear buds that I can attach to my helmet. This way, I can hear the road and my music safely. Any ideas?
The guy that founded my cycle club (700 members strong) rides with a small speaker attached to his helmet. However, that speaker is no longer available or I would buy one too.

I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago
I ended up getting a pair of in-ear headphones (iMetals) and a pair of Koss clip-ons. The Koss phones are very comfy for long rides (I find in-ears get uncomfortable after an hour or two), but allow a little more wind noise. The in-ears get uncomfortable after a while, but do a better job with sealing out wind noise.

i use my phone's mp3 or radio and phones always come with earphones, the ones that plug into the ears. I think these are fine. I stick the straps under the helmet so they are held in place. One piece is in an ear and the ear on the side of the traffic is kept unused.
I too generally listen to words rather than music...audio books, talk radio. the reason is words are not constant noise unlike music so you hear the road noise unimpeded. I do listen to music occasionally but only in really deserted roads.

Isn't it common knowledge that everybody does not ride under the same conditions? It is actually possible to be completely safe on a bike without being able to hear. I've done it for years along with many others here. Our secret? We ride with our eyes, not our ears.

I agree. Like I posted in another thread, deaf people ride bikes, too. Hearing is not a requirement to ride a bike or drive a car.
