Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

1980 Peugeot PKN10 or 1987 Schwinn Tempo

I have been riding a classic pearl white Peugeot with top of the line components like a campy rear derailer. Also has a brookes saddle.
Recently acquired a nice Schwinn Tempo with Shimano 105 everything, good straight bike. Shifts and rides really smooth. I have run into a few mechanics who are hesitant to work on my Peug. I am sure I won't run into that with the Schwinn if I were to keep that one. What do you think I should keep? Whats a better bike in your opinion? The Brookes can easily be moved to one or the other.

Post this over in Classics and Vintage. The Peugeot is a nice bike. The mechanics are probably worried about the French threaded BB and, I assume, Simplex derailleurs but unless you need parts that shouldn't be an issue.

As I recall the Tempo was one of the higher line Schwinns and, you're right, it will be easier to find parts for as the threading is English and Shimano is, obviously, still around.

I would keep the tempo personally. It will be easier to deal with in the long run and probably weighs less/is faster than the peugeot.
