Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Speedplay froggies

Yep, thinking of making the change from toe clips to the froggies. I've already got Lake mtb shoes. I've searched the forum for some info and just want to get a bit more up to date news.

My reason for the Frogs is some knee issues and the walkability, of course!

Any feedback would be great. Ease of use, what it takes to get used to the large amount of float, etc. For a quick local jaunt to the store, is there a temp platform I can stuff on there as well?

Thanks, Happy Labor Day weekend, everyone!

I personally never got used to the Frog's float and ended up switching to Zeros. I also didn't like the toe-first entry method. I preferred stomp-and-go. I did like the walkability and the cleats worked well with my old Lake CX125 shoes. They however didn't work very well with my Sidi road shoes because I had to use the SPD adapter. If your shoes have SPD 2-bolt mounting holes then they should work fairly well. You will probably want to check the shoe compatibility chart on Speedplay's website to be sure. As far as platforms, I believe you should be able to use either the Winwood Decksters or Windwood Instep adapters since they accept SPD cleats. I believe there's enough open area in the adapters to mount the Frog cleats. That said, having floating platforms might get a little odd.
