ebay carbon frames?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

ebay carbon frames?

i searched through and have not found very much. so i figgured no one would really mind if i starated a new thread. my questions are.

- how well built are those frames?
- i assume these frames come from the same builders that make high quality carbon frames but rejected due to minor flaws and sold for much lower prices (any flaws that would ruin the carbon??)
- anyone have hands on experience with these frames?
- from ebay seller to seller, do the frames differ?

I've got a bike with an eBay frame (check out signature). From what I can tell it's just as good as the real deal in everything expect the paint job.

thanks, was there a specific buyer you bought yours from? i've been searching through and have found quite a few sellers of generic carbon frames, or should they all be about the same thing?

That time of the month again?

Yeah, and we need the accompanying thread about eBay carbon cages.

If BF's search function actually worked, it would cut down on these "repeats."

Yeah, the search function used to work but now it sucks.

You can use google and search "bike forums ebay carbon frame" and you should get some good threads to read up on.

I don't remember. I just bought the cheapest one that came with the frame and fork (set it to lowest price + shipping, and buy it now)

https://forums.roadbikereview.com/sho...d.php?t=146183 has all the information you need on the frames.

I wonder if the bottom bracket is faced on the ebay carbon no name frames? If not hand your LBS $40 for that.

I don't think you need to face it. I know I didn't.

Why go with ebay frames when you can go with a Pedal Force one for a bit more.

it's called peace of mind. pedal force comes with a full warranty. the ebay frame, you're pretty much SOL if your frame cracks.

You also neede to buy a headset/fork with the pedal force frame. It does look nice however, but I'll stick to lightly used.

Sidestepping eBay, some frames getting attention at RoadBikeReview are being ordered directly from the manufacturer. One of the nicer looking ones is currently going for $585./w fork, a cheap headset, and shipping. Discuss it here or there--doesn't matter, but this looks like a decent bargain as long as one understands the plusses and minuses. I'd tend to think that a good local data base (bike forums) on these frames is not such a bad thing.
