New bar tape - CELESTE - with pics!
Picked this girl up in April and have been putting miles on her ever since. Also thought it'd be fun to hook up some celeste bar tape, and took a stab at doing it myself. Had to re-wrap the left side at least 3 times before it came out decent, and the right side only took one time. I figure I'll wear this stuff out, and I'll be able to get an even better wrap job the next time out.

And here's the link of the bike with the old white tape on it. I also had a chance to clean up the drive train, I can't believe how much grime had built up, the color with from gray/black to a shiny silver!

Wow! You did an incredible job.
I have to replace the stock white bar tape on my new CAAD9 with black or brown since it's a dirty mess right now. Never liked the white anyway.
I've watched some YouTube videos on wrapping tape and it doesn't appear to difficult but I imagine my first time won't come out anywhere close to yours. If it does I'll be thrilled!

Thanks guys . . . I watched a few videos before I gave it a shot, but here's my biggest takeaway based on those videos, and my own experience:
There's sticky stuff on the tape, but that's not really what keeps the tape on the bar, it's the tension you apply when you wrap it. This made be not feel so bad about wrapping and unwrapping the left side until I got it looking good. In fact, the first time I wrapped it, I didn't apply enough tension and ran out of tape. The second time, I really pulled it tight, and I had plenty left over to play with.
sced: That tape really pops on the '86, I like it.

Looks good, I love my celeste colored bar tape on my Bianchi. I've got a nice fully celeste saddle and bottle cage to match.
I'm using Deda tape on mine, and it got dirty pretty quickly. However its on my commuter bike which sees all kinds of weather.

Nice. But I thought the PAINT was supposed to be celeste for Bianchi, not the wrap. Did I miss something?

stole your bike
Nice job! I like the celeste tape on that bike, since it goes well with it and stays true to the Bianchi color.

That's a really nice job - I'll be going back to celeste when I replace the current black tape on my Veloce.

Bottle cages? But besides those, there are little touches of celeste that are hard to pick out in the pic (fork, bar that goes from crank to cassette (don't know what that's called), striping on top tube and down tube)

Looks great. It's kinda like that perfect rug that really ties a room together.... only it's a bike, not a room...

Bianchis have come in lots of colors over the years. On my wife's bike I tried to pull out the celeste on the teeny Columbus tubing stickers with the bar wrap, but have been shopping for other celeste parts such as a saddle, tires, and cages (like the OP). At least on Ebay, celeste parts are not easy to find at a reasonable price. Saddles are out of sight for what you're getting.
