Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cadd9 4

Quick question, I recently bought a road bike online, from WALMART( I have heard everything so leave at that). I bought it because it has a decent frame and pretty good gruppo..(Shimano 105). But my cousin recently bought a Cadd9 5, they told him that that was the most sought after frame because of its shape and because its lightweight. I want to know if thats true???..if its such a good frame, and als does the Cadd9 4 bring something bettter frame wise that the 95 dose not?..Last question we went to a LSB and i got the weight in my hand of the Cadd9 5 and a Specialized Tarmac fully carbon and it weighed MORE!!!..how is thats possible?? are there carbon that weigh more than aluminum??

I think so. The lack of punctuation is making it difficult to determine though.

I doubt a carbon Tarmac weighs more than a 9-5. Weighing stuff by hand isn't really the best way to measure things.

Also the 4 is better than the 5 because of the components, it's the same frame.

Lastly the CAAD9 isn't the best frame. For one it's aluminum. Also the shape of the CAAD9 isn't anything special. However the CAAD9 is a great aluminum frame that's stiff and not too heavy. It's not the lightest though.

BTW are you a troll?

I'am the cousin. He was just impressed that an aluminum bike (Caad9 5) was lighter than a full carbon frame (tarmac).

Well the best frames are (arguably) carbon frames.

Don't get me wrong, the CAAD9 is a nice bike. I used to own one and really like it.

well you've certainly been sold by the peloton. guess speedvagen's are second rate because they're steel. (yes i saw that you wrote arguably)

but there's no reason why a tarmac couldn't be heavier than a 9-5 just because it's carbon.

The new lightweight steel tubing is very impressive. If you were blindfolded and held a Waterford R33 frame in your hand you would never know you were holding a steel frame.

Caad9 is the frame... the secondary number is to designate the factory included component specs. I technically bought a Caad9 5, but all its components are completely different now... so its just... well, hell. I don't know, but its better than a Caad9 4...ha ha ha. Opps, just lemme zip up my pants.
