here is one of the best reviews for the caad line. this is for the 8 but the differences are minimal. obviously the components are different.

You are neck deep in the only place in the universe where Cannondales are worshiped like a God. Here there is no bad, only Unfathomable good. Try looking for unbiased information elsewhere.

CAAD9's are forged by the Gods of Olympus. They are then bathed in a water that gives them restorative magical properties. If you crash a CAAD9 frame not only will it repair itself in 24 hours but it will also heal the rider.

The CAAD9 5 is a good bike for the price. The 105 components are very reliable, and good enough for racing. The new CAAD9 comes with a BB30 which is nice if you decide to upgrade the crankset. The FSA Gossamer cranks probably aren't the best, but they should work fine. Cannondale's house brand seatpost, stem, and handlebars are good components that are reliable. The stock Tektro brakes are also decent brakes.
The frame itself is supposedly very stiff and comes in at a good weight. I've owned a CAAD9 and can tell you it's pretty stiff, from what I remember. The frame geometry is pretty aggressive with a short wheelbase. This is good if you want a quick bike. However for some that means the ride may be uncomfortable for longer periods of time. I found my CAAD9 to be pretty comfortable and wasn't bothered by the aggressive geometry.
If you want a good racing bike or just a fast bike, get the CAAD9.

CAAD 9 is a GREAT bike for the price, and arguably is a better bike than quite a few that cost 50% more. Get it, you won't go wrong.

Do you not agree that the zillion caad9 threads asking the same thing over and over are getting old? There are at least 2 threads a week on this thing. And I like Performance up to a certain price point. My next bike will be either be a Bianchi Infinito or Wilier Izoard.

stole your bike
don't forget that the wings of Mercury are bestowed upon the mighty CAAD 9 so that the rider is blessed with superhuman speed and endurance. When I took a CAAD 9 on a test ride I rode by the Cervelo Test Team and no matter how hard they pedaled they just couldn't catch my wheel.

Why does nobody ever mention just how crappy the wheels are on most of the CAAD9 bikes (Shimano RS10)? I have thought about getting a CAAD9 but I know I'd have to replace the wheels right away. Most stock bikes don't have great wheels but from what I've read about those Shimano's they are bordering on the point of being dangerous they're so bad.

Here and every other online cycling forum. I wonder if there is a reason for that.......
