There's a lot of stop signs on my rides. Pushing off with cleats on rough asphalt isn't helping though.

I'm actually about to change my SPD-SL cleats. It's been a little more than a year and they're starting to show signs of wear, but they're not excessive. I'm replacing them just to be safe.

Performance Bikes have great cheap clipless pedals. You can get 30 dollar clipless mtb pedals and like 40 dollar mtb shoes. It's your pick.
