Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

while there are plenty of bmx style games I do not recall any road style cycling games or even any mountain biking ones. would be a great idea for an arcade simulation though, pitch it to atari heh.

edit: looks like there is a mtb game as mentioned above. imagine a tour de france game.....quite boring and very time consuming I would say. I haven't played any of the Olympic's video games but it's possible cycling could be an event in them.

Yeah, why they can't make one???? EA Sports make Madden as well as the NBA Live series quite realistic with full season play and the frenchise mode. Same with Sega/ESPN. Why they or other developers couldn't make one with cycling? Just like in real life. Riders have to earn UCI points. Teams have to do well to be selected for the Tour. You can always race other races too. You can still control the riders like how well they can handle crosswind, bad weather, and tec. The ability to balance well on the bike while other riders from other teams try to run you off the road.

I heard that there's a European Xbox cycling game. That's about all I know. Anybody else?

be cool if you could hook your bike up to a trainer that's connected to the PS2 or respective gaming system.

You could get a few computrainers and go head-to-head with some buddies. Or, get a single computrainer and go head-to-head with your previous performances on the same course.

Found it, here are some pics. Damn it looks really cool, I wish their was a big enough market in the U.S. for it to be imported, still wouldn't be a good enough reason to buy an xbox though.

That come with a substantial U-lock?

This actually would be damned cool. The next Dance Dance Revolution perhaps? I'd fork over the $ for a good system. Have some really cool 3D rendered routes. Alpe D'Huez in your living room.

And you can also race in TT series, benchmark your performance against peer groups and download and race against hundreds of performances on many courses and of all abilities!

There was a game at my marathon expo at a booth for one of the LBS's. They had a bike on a trainer and the fork was in a steering column thing. On the screen in front of you was a dude on a bike against other riders. Your speed, direction, braking was all controlled by you on the bike. It was pretty cool LOOKING but as I watched the game kept screwing up (rider would crash for no reason etc).

You could get on and try to beat the best times recorded during the expo and win a prize. I was tempted to get on and rip that machine a new one, but it was the night before my marathon. I chose to preserve my energy for the race.

someone mentioned this eariler:
http://www.cycling-manager.com
I play it a lot. Its not perfect as its made in France by only a few fulltime staff, but its better than not having any cycling game.

Check this out

http://www.peaktrainingsystem.com/page/page/1291199.htm

You hook it up to your trainer and ride virtual courses. I have used it and for 120.00 bucks it is pretty cool, especially when you race against other bikers online or even just use the virtual pacers.

Don't forget to get the user mods for Cycling Manager 4. It's kind of idiotic to have Lance Nillstrung.

Names are one of the many things they change.

Xbox game is pretty lame, but Cycling Manager 4 is awesome. I _love_ it. Photoshop experts can add their own local jersey and race team.
