Disposable Razors are Terrible

I've been shaving my legs for about a month now, and Ive never had a problem even the first time. I needed a new blade for my dedicated leg razor, a schlick mach 3. I threw that blade out and forgot to get new ones, so I used one of the disposable razors that we just happened to have. Worst idea of my life. I got done with one leg and felt a burning sensation all over. I look down and I thought I was in a horror film. I didn't even bother to try the second leg.

Gillette makes the Mach 3.

Speaking of which, I signed up for this Proglide Challenge thing they have, http://www.proglidechallenge.com/en-ca/Home/Index.aspx, sent me a free Proglide razor. Came with a battery in the package... O_o ...

Apparently, this thing vibrates. I'm supposed to put this FIVE BLADED, VIBRATING monstrosity against my face/legs? WTF...!!!

Cool story.

The Mach 3 is made by Gillette (P&G)
Schick (Energizer) makes the Xtreme3 and Quattro razors.

Oops, typo that's what I meant.

Have you tried shaving in the shower, preferably after 5-10 minutes with hot water? Makes the experience MUCH easier...

After a shower, apply a thin film of alcohol free hand cream instead of soap on wet legs. You won't believe the difference.

Mach 3s were standard issue when I went to boot camp. Certainly helped with speedy shaves while avoiding cuts.

I used a vibrating Mach 3 for a while. The interesting thing was that it probably got twice as much usable life out of a cartridge than the standard version.

Right now I'm mostly using non-vibrating Fusions. My girlfriend bought a package of Mach 3 disposables not too long ago from Costco (a lot cheaper than the silly designer Mach 3s I've seen, and probably even cheaper than the equivalent number of refill packages). I'm not sure when I'll get around to using them; maybe I'll put one in my travel bag.

And +1000 on hating cheap single-bladed disposables. Hotels use them, but I think it's to teach their guests a lesson on forgetting essentials.

Don't buy those Old Spice branded razors unless you want to die a horrible painful death due to nicks and cuts. Just take my word for it.

I might add that after I read this I remembered my need for new blades for my Gillette fusion. Went to CVS, jeeeez, $15 for 8 razors? Maybe it isn't a lot, but it cost $12 originally. :notamused:
