The Day of the Kamikaze Suicide Bunnies

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The Day of the Kamikaze Suicide Bunnies

It started like any cool, late spring morning. A little overcast and a breeze out of the north. The clouds started to break at my turn around point revealing a bright blue sky, and the breeze picked up a little. All along my route there was a rather large number of bunnies along the side of the pathway, but there are always a lot of critters here, so no big deal. Right?

About 3 miles from home the surprise attack started. The chipmunks tried softening me up but I was able to power through their defenses. Take that Simon! I crested a small rise and when I looked up there was a mass of fuzzy, cotton tailed madness about 100 yards ahead of me in the middle of the path. Their large, round eyes staring a laser beam of hatred straight into my soul. As I rode into the fray, the bunnies attacked! To quote Marlin Brando "the horror". There were bunnies everywhere. One ran into my rear wheel and bounced off into the bush, another was about to go under the front wheel when I acrobatically released my right foot from the pedal, planted it next to one of the ravenous beasts and managed a pirouette, bike and all...

Then I fell to the ground like a lump of clay. Road rash down my left leg, twisted my wrist up pretty good as well. The Kamikaze Suicide Bunny squad retreated from the field of battle, licking their wounds and preparing for another day of battle. Damn you bunnies! Damn you to hell!

just get some disc covers for your front wheel and run them over.

Go get a pair of old Spinergy Rev-X wheels. The rabbits will come out pre-cleaned, ready for battering and frying.

You need an Incredibell. It chases that sort of riff-raff off the road before you get there.

You crashed and didn't even bother to seek revenge on a delicious, wounded bunny? What are you, a vegan?

A squirrel nearly did me in a few days ago. They aren't as deadly as bunnies, though!

Someone on our group ride ran dead center over a prairie dog last week.

The little animals are organizing against us, aren't they.

I think a commando squad of bunnies came to the house overnight, broke into the garage, climbed into the rafters, swung over to where the bikes hang, used little bunny repelling gear and lowered themselves down to my handlebars and drained the battery in my computer! NOOOOOOO!

Aaah. Easy mistake to make. Those weren't commando bunnies. They were Cyborg bunnies.
