How does Fuji stack up againts Trek? (Roubaix vs 2 series)
Just stumbled across the Fuji Roubaix 1.0 and the ACR 3.0 and wondered how well these bikes performed. Anyone have any experience with them? I know a local dealer that sells Fuji but only orders product as needed and doesn't stock them. I was about to pull the trigger on a Trek 2.1 but figured I'd see if anyone knew how these stacked up against the Trek. I know the ACR has Carbon seatstays and a mixture of 105/tiagra components while the 1.0 has Rival.

I'll take my Fuji (and several other Fuji models) over Trek any day. There's a shop near me that's been selling Trek for years and I've looked at them and ridden them. First, they have never been tuned properly [ie. rough shifting, poor brake set-up, ect.]. Second, their geometry just doesn't suit me that well. But that's going to be different from person to person.

I got my Fuji Roubaix ACR 2.0 about two months ago. I tried Trek and Giant as well. Fuji and Giant are the better values; you get better components for the money. I ended up with the Fuji mainly because no one around me stocked higher-end models, so I could only test models I wasn't interested in buying, and they wouldn't order any for me to test unless I paid for them. So I went to Performance Bike looking for a Roubaix 1.0, but found the ACR 2.0, zipped around the parking lot, and fell in love with it.

I'm not sure how true this is, but I've heard that racing voids the warranty on Fuji bikes.
That alone steered me away from them when I was looking at bikes.

Yeah, my Trek Madone couldn't take my pedaling and the BB shell broke loose inside the carbon frame.
Now I'm on a 2010 Fuji SST 2.0 that retails for about 1/2 as much as my Madone, the frame weighs exactly the same (to the gram, on my scale), it's softer on the bumps and feels much stiffer in frame twist between the head and seat tubes (descending under power through sweepers or accelerating out of hard corners in a crit).
We'll be seeing the SST and the SL in the TdF next month, under the unfortunately-clad Footon Servetto Fuji team.
This is a mis-interpretation of the warranty. The statement is:
So, if you damage it because of a race, they won't warranty that damage. That's pretty meaningless, but if you had a frame failure of some sort that happened in a race, that would fall under this clause.
My team shop owner tells me we're covered if we race the bikes. He's never had Fuji decline one of his warranty claims. He sells a lot of Fujis, and for a long time. Some come back (just like any brand). Fuji backs them up.
Your warranty is at least as good as the shop you buy the bike from, and I have full confidence in mine.

Additionally, this warranty does not cover damage associated with commercial use, racing or competition, stunts or lack of technical skill of the user.

Nothing wrong with the Treks, but I favor the Fujis. Just personal preference as long as they are on level playing felds with fit & components.

My last team shop was Austinbikes on Lamar. Great shop, they list Fuji, though I'm not sure what their selection is like. Austin Tricyclist is supposedly a fuji dealer as well, but not listed on their site right now.
Other than that, unsure.

Performance Bike sells a lot of Fujis, though I would hardly recommend them. If you do go to a Performance shop in Austin, make sure you go to the North store on Anderson.
Also, I might as well point out here that I have had some serious problems with my current Fuji (2009 Fuji Team). The integrated headset is impossible to adjust properly. It is either too loose or too tight (and I've had some of the better mechanics in town look at it). I'm gonna have to buy a new headset I guess. I've also seen a Fuji Team frame crack at the BB shell junction.

I need to test ride a Fuji bike as well, I like the look of the Roubaix 1.0 and it is cheaper and better equipped than a Trek 2.3 that I have been looking at. My main problem is that I really like the LBS I go to, but they only sell Specialized and Trek, they have already said they will work with me on a deal when I buy a new road bike, but it may be hard for them to match the Fuji Roubaix on cost and spec with anything that they have in store.

I've raced a number of Fujis and am currently on the same frame that WR is racing. Wife has one. Terrific bikes all in all.

I have a 2009 Roubaix and love it. I couldn't beat the price either, picked it up at a performance store during their 20% off friends and family deal last year. Not all Performance Bike shops are awful either. I've found the two near me (Reston, VA and McLean, VA) are pretty good..there are a few a-holes with bad attitudes at both of them, but I've found more to be helpful and considerate.
I'll probably upgrade wheels/components rather than upgrade the bike assuming everything else holds up, I REALLY like it.

Went to my LBS today, cash in hand, to get him to order a Fuji Roubaix 1.0 and I come to find out that his distributor is out. I called 4 more shops in a 50mile radius and nothing. Not a single 1.0 anywhere. Bummed to say the least, but my LBS took my name and told me that he'd call me as soon as the 2011's get released.

performance do seem to have a great deal on an SST 1.0 frameset right now with an additional $200 off if purchased by tomorrow.
I know a couple of guys that ride them--one who's coming off a Look 595ultra and the other off a dogma and both of whom say they love the Fuji more (but I suppose they'd have to wouldn't they?)

A local shop has an Allez Elite and a CAAD9-5 for roughly the same price I was going to get the Roubaix 1.0 for. So now the question is ........Hold out for the Roubaix 1.0 and the rest of the 2011 line up or grab one of the last US made 9-5s or the Allez?
