NYC'ers, I think they cleaned up prospect park.

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

NYC'ers, I think they cleaned up prospect park.

NYC'ers, I think they cleaned up prospect park.

The last time I was there, they dug up the dip at the end of the hill in prospect park and installed some kinda trench under the ground for the drain. Hopefully it won't flood anymore.

Well I'm glad that they've taken care of the flooding issue, but the real question is did the take care of the two huge potholes at the beginning of the hill? The two holes granted me with two flat tires at my last race and took me out of the race.

BTW,

Anyone racing this weekend? If you want to join me I'll be in the park doing a few laps ~6 tomorrow. I'll be on the stealth black bike with the green/white BBS jersey. (took the decals off of my Giant TCR Team, the yellow was starting to look orange) Just give a holler and a wave, I might have my headphones on.

Yeah there's a race on Sat. It's in the Kissena series. It's at 6.30 and it's 8 laps.

I'd take the bump to the water any time. The 2 pot holes at the start of the hill are still there but they have orange paint on them.

The NYC Century goes through part of the park on Sunday. Haven't been there since last year's Century. IIRC, the ride does not include the hill, so I guess I'll be OK.

Well around lap 2 or 3 (can't remember now) I was grabbing a drink when someone tried to force me off the wheel I was following (why I don't know, I was in third position in mile 8 of 28 and he decided to pull in from the right on the flat after the hill after the Grand Amy plaza entrance). So anyway, I had to use both hands to keep from going down, so my bottle gets away from me. I ride another three laps without water, then get dropped from the group and abandon after finishing 6 laps. It's amazing how hard that course is with no water. Oh well, there's always next season.
