Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Night Bright Lights !

I'm shopping for a decent, bright 10 watts lights for those rides in the dark out in the streets or roads (no trails).

I've narrowed it down to: Light & Motion Commuter single light & Performance Dual lights. (NiteRide & upper end Light & Motion models are out of my budget.)

Has anybody had any experience with these lights or is there any better out there w/o breaking the bank?

I just bought a CygoLite Metro, two 6 watt halogens bulbs and it was $40. It uses 5 D cell batteries and lasts 2.5 hours, so they say. I have yet to try it but it is blinding bright. The version that comes with a top end battery ($80) was reviewed in a recent Bicycling Magazine along with several other lights. The Metro is upgradeable - just buy the rechargeable battery. I plan on using rechargable D cells for now and can always pop in regular batteries if I forget to charge them. Plus when I tour, I just carry extra batteries - no charging worries. Do a search in the forums, there are plenty of comments - that is where I learned of the Cygo Metro.
