New road bike....sort of

So, I had a budget of $500 to spend on a new road bike which meant I would have to go used a la craigslist. I currently ride a Trek hybrid and get good mileage and speed on it, routinely taking 50 mile trips. But it's really set up for commuting with fenders, lights that I have to take on and off, etc, and I had to get a separate road bike (which I will be riding exclusively on bike paths). I found this 1999 Quintana Roo Tequilo Ultegra in immaculate shape, hardly ridden for $400 (and he also threw in some brand new Shimano Ultegra clipless pedals) so let's just say I paid about $340 for this $2000 bike (and it flies!). The only problem is that's it's a triathlon bike as opposed to a road bike. That doesn't bother me per se as I like to go fast, I can go further and see more per ride. I'm getting the spokes tuned up and should get it back tomorrow to take on a decent ride. I'll have to get used to the tri aero bars, as this is not a standard road bike handlebar.

That being said, I love my brooks b-17 saddle and I can't afford a second one right now...would this be a suitable saddle to take off my commuter and put on this bike? Also my clipless egg beaters might have to come too, because I'm scared to death of the stirrup type that are on there currently and I don't want to buy new shoes for the ultegras. Anyone else have any advice for using a tri bike as a road bike? It was an impulse buy because it seemed like such a good deal...so I hope I don't regret it later...

the b17 doesnt take to kindly to low bars, but give it a try. i ride triathlon geometry on the road, and i have the seat 4cm back to simulate more relaxed geometry.
