i started riding about 2 years ago with a track bike, and now i'm looking into getting a multi-geared bike. nothing too expensive. is something that is like 1x9 or 7 good or should i look into something with more gears? just recommend me a quality low cost starter bike please

Depends what kind of riding you're going to do and how much $$ you have. Go to a bike shop, look around, and test ride.

You need at least 2x10 or you won't be able to compete in the Tour De La French.

I assume you're thinking drop bar road bike? New, from a shop, a decent one with sora/tiagra(I much prefer minimum tiagra shifters for ergo) components starts around $7-800. I'd highly recommend getting one with a carbon front fork. Trek 1.2 Fuji Roubaix Specialized Allez Many, many others, all depends on what your LBS deals in. |
How much are you willing to spend? If only a couple hundred, the only type of road bike you'll be able to buy is a used one.
