I'm looking for the most well ventilated bike helmet for the hot summer months. Any recommendations?

Any of them that has large vents and cost a lot. I don't know of any super extreme venting low priced helmet.

I use a Giro Atmos that keeps me pretty cool in the summer...never tried a Catlike, though.

I just got a catlike and I think it is by far the best in terms of ventilation. In fact, at 25 and up it feels like someone has 10 hairdryers on your head and your scalp starts to tickle from the wind. It's so strong in fact, that I am thinking you must be paying an aerodynamic penalty, no kidding. It has way more venitaltion than the Ionos, Atmos, and S-works.

Now, that being said, I am not sure it is the coolest. The helmet appears to be extremely safe and covers much of your head, quite a bit more than my S-works, but I was probably undersized on the S-works. My forehead is warmer on the Catlike than the S-works with it's cool forehead venting, but as far as all the other vents ... holy high speed fan batman.

there was an iron man helmet at performance bike a while ago, dont now if they still have then, but it was a 200 dollar helmet on sale for about 50 bucks at the time, unfortunatly didnt have my size

$40 maybe? a lot of huge vents.

Best ventilated helmet I've used is the Specialized S-Works, mainly because the vent in the front keeps sweat from developing on the forehead (pads are the down-side of the helmet).

On the cheap, I would say Bell Alchera has the best ventilation for a < $50 helmet.

That being said, I now use a Rudy Project Sterling and Selev XP helmet(s). Both have inferior ventilation to the S-Works.

Here on the Gulf Coast it's in the 90's and Humid everyday between June & Oct and my Atmos is very comfortable, ..........
As for Catlike, .....since they are not allowed to be sold in the US, I don't know much about them.

Use this for both road and mountain biking. In 90+ F temps, my head is no worse off than my arms, shoulders, face or anything else that's getting blasted by the sun. I used to own an IronMan brand helmet (although no the $200 one mentioned above) that worked great, too.

You won't notice any difference among the top helmets. Try on every helmet at your LBS and get the one that fits you best. The $99 Bell Array fits me much better than the top of the line Giro Ionos.

Agreed. For some reason, the honeycomb pattern creeps me out. Like hornets are going to try to nest in there.

I just switched to a Bell Ghisallo. Pretty good, but I have to say, I don't know that there's going to be *that* much difference in ventilation among helmets.

Ionos. Vents are massive--you can literally feel the air channeling through the helmet as you ride.

To the OP: I have an Ionos and an Atmos. They both provide superior ventilation to previous generation and cheaper helmets I've had in the past and work well in Central Florida summers.

I'll vouch for the Catlike Whisper. Very well ventilated and extremely light. Pretty pricey however. I had to replace mine over this winter as I encountered some black ice and slammed the back of the helmet onto the pavement. I'm now using a Bell Volt and while it's pretty well ventilated, it's very noisy to me.

I got mine from a UK vendor when on sale. With free delivery, it was quite reasonable.

Love the catlike...those vents are awesome! The way it looks is not for everyone, though.

Combine these two and you have your answer.

I have a Specialized head, so I have the Decibel (now they have the S-works). My head didn't like Bell, Giro, or Limar.

What's the fit of a catlike relative to a Giro or Bell? For example, if you wear a medium Giro, what would you wear in catlike?

I hear good things about the S-Works helmet as far ventilation goes. I am in search of a new helmet right now too.
