Giro Atmos Helmet and Bee Stings

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Giro Atmos Helmet and Bee Stings

About six weeks ago my Pop bought me a new Giro Atmos Helmet (Silver). I wouldn’t have spent that much myself but hey it is nice. The ventilation is much better than my Giro from '93. The problem is that in the last month I have been stung twice by bees and on every ride bees and other insects are flying right into my helmet, face and shoulders. Is the helmet a beacon on the ultra-violet spectrum? Anybody else have this happen?

I find that bugs are drawn into my Giro helmet also. I have been stung a few times and have had to pull my helmet off during rides to get a couple wasps out. Looks like maybe I am riding to fast and run into them.

I can't stand bugs crawlin' around under my helmet. I wear a cool max do rag under my helmet just to keep the bugs out. An added benifit the cool max does keep sweat out of my eyes too.
